Pharrell Williams New Sound And New Fashion

Filed under: Basics — admin @ 7:24 pm

Pharrell Williams has been in the music industry for quite some time now as he has made his Virginia Beach flavor worldwide; and we are still not sure why he wasn’t honored at the Vh1 Hip Hop Honors “Dirty South” along with other Virginia producer Timberland. We first heard of Pharrell in 1992 as he helped produce the song “Rump Shaker”. Through the mid 90s Pharrell kept working to master and shape that Neptunes sound, while in 1997 he produced the hit for Ma$e “Lookin At Me” off of the album Harlem World.

He started to really make the Neptunes producing brand hot in the early 2000s with Mystikal’s hit “Shake It Fast” along with others from Jay-Z and Roc-a-Fella. Not only has Pharrell turned out to be one of the best producers in Hip Hop and not only that but he has found outlets for his passion of art and fashion.

With all the music hits produced by Pharrell and the Neptunes, he still managed to in 2005 to start Billionaire Boys Club with his manager, Robert Walker. They teamed up with fashion icon designer A Bathing Ape’s Nigo to launch BBC (Billionaire Boys Club)… And now 5 years they are still running and they just recently dropped the 11th Season Lookbook for the BBC Fall 2010 Collection of Sneakers. They will release in a series of colorways and the dopest feature of the sneaker is the gum sole and canvas upper.

WILD N OUT: A Sneaker-Wheeled-Bike? (PHOTO)

Kicks aren’t just for walking and Max Knight took on a new challenge in shoe fanaticism.  The designer originally created this for Intersection magazine giving us a brand new option for getting around town.  This piece entails engineering, fashion, design, culture all in one and it will not only be moving people but a stream of inspirational originality.  Imagine what else can be made with shoes?  We are accustomed to seeing shoes as a final product rather than a material to biuld something else and that is what makes this walking bike so brilliant.

Remember what it felt like to ride a bike?  The human body is mobilized beyond the two feet and ergonomically transforms our movement through space by metamorphsis of legs into streamlined wheels.  It feels like being half-bike, half-man cruising the city in a speed that forces immediate reception of everything in one’s surroundings.

Now, take that experience and replace the wheels with designer high tops machinery is being brought back to our feet. This bike can be ridden although its not the smoothest ride on the road, the concept is still fresh.  Good design maintains form and serves function, but a great design is one that brings art and craftsmanship together in a relatable and aesthetically appealing manner.  Lined with the hottest rubber soles off the street, the Smurf-blue frame has been upgraded to a whole new level in the wheel-kingdom.

The question to always ask is, are you riding your bike or is your bike riding you?

Vanessa Hudgens Feels Like A Sexpot (PHOTOS)

Disney cutie, Vanessa Hudgens, will appear on the cover of Glamour Magazine’s August 2010 issue. She looks cute in her spread, but her clothes aren’t as bright, preppy, and High School Musical- friendly. She seems to really love the style changes that she’s making, saying that her she loves her favorite jeans because, “A, it goes with anything. And, B, if your jeans hug you the right was you feel like a sexpot.”

Vanessa told Glamour about how her career aspirations changed after she began working for Disney, saying, “…before High School Musical, I wanted to be a nitty-gritty actress. And High School Musical came along, and, I was like, ‘Oh my God, fun!’”

Vanessa also gushed about clicking instantly with her long-time boyfriend, Zac Efron. Apparently they were paired together during their auditions for High School Musical, and showed her interviewers cute pictures of Zac when he had a gap. She said she’s still getting over the breach of her privacy (unfortunately, everybody still remembers those topless photos of her that hit the web), but it’s made her stronger. Plus, she points out that many actresses appear nude in their work, something she may consider doing in the far away future.

Adorable. She’s definitely blossoming into a beautiful young woman. Glad to see her sexing up her image with grace.

**NEW MUSIC**Dirty Projectors and Bjork "All We Are"

Filed under: Basics — admin @ 7:24 pm

Dirty Projectors teams up with Bjork for “All We Are” and the collaboration is well seasoned with such logical synergy.  Dirty Projector’s signature twangy folk sound driven by funky indie snares moves on a new path with this track with Bjork’s wispy vocals.  Dirty Projectors’ most recent album Bitte Orca was succesful marriage between pop and folk and easy to put on repeat.  Quietely propelling the song in the background are choral progressions of “ooh ooh” in angelic voices, a welcoming invitation into a four-minute universe of peacefulness.  The band has been churning out consistent pop-folk records that highlight vocals in a purist way that can still hold our interest.

Bjork’s delicate vocals complement the odd composition of melodies that take us on a journey into zen.  Like most indie tracks, this one requires a bit of patience which will be rewarded.  Deconstructed simple vocals that are skillfully layered and stitched back together reminds us of the M83-esque build-up resulting in surprising complexity. If you’ve worn out Modest Mouse’s ear candy “The Whale Song” this track is definitely up your alley.  Almost like going to a yoga retreat minus the downward dog, this piece will be the perfect addition to our orca-themed record collection

There has much controversy over Lady Gaga’s lady parts, or lack there of. And though she proved everyone wrong in the video for Telephone featuring Beyonce, she still isn’t affraid to have people talking about her. This songstress recently did a photoshoot for Vogue Hommes Japan where she played her alter ego, Jo Calderon. Gaga played a very conviencing man.

Even her best friend/biggest supporter/blogger Perez Hilton called her alter ego his “husband”, and joking around that she was very “well endowed”.

When it comes to fashion the Kardashian’s are always dressed to impressed. Kourtney and Khloe recently revealed  tips on finding the right swimsuit this year!

When it comes to bikinis, Khloe says they are not just for skinny girls. “Diane von Furstenberg has a very mod, 1950s bikini where the bottom is kind of high-waisted- very Marilyn Monroe and very sexy so if you have a little tummy, you can hide it.”

On dealing with swinsuits that tie, she advises, “When you have a bigger butt, bottoms without ties on the side sometimes will cut into your skin. I have a booty, so I like ties because I can loosen them up a little.”

New mother Kourtney suggests buying a suit that gives you support, “My boobs are enormous so I need extra support. Knowing if you do or don’t need that extra support is important.”

Khloe adds, “I’ve seen women on the beach and I don’t know if they don’t see it but their breasts are hanging all the way down. They need some more support.”

Talking about her favorites Khloe dishes, “I love one-pieces, but I’m still 25,” Khloe says. “A lot of one-pieces look like they’re for older women, but nowadays there are so many fun one-pieces with cutouts and other designs that are really sexy.”

Kourtney advises, “You have to know what suits your body best,” while Khloe warns, “Don’t just buy what everyone else is buying.”
